The symptoms of food hypersensitivities

The symptoms of food allergy and intolerance may be very diversified and include different organs. They may appear separately, as single symptoms, or together with the others, as a group of symptoms.

1. Gastrointestinal symptoms:

        •  dairy products aversion,
        •  vomiting,
        •  abdominal colic,

        •  abnormal increase/decrease of body weight,
        •  lack of appetite.

3. The respiratory system symptoms:

        •  chronic cough,
        •  rhinitis, asthma,

        •

4. The urinary tract symtoms:

        •  heamaturia,
        •  enuresis nocturna, urinary incontinence,
        •  ureamic syndrome.
        •

5. The nervous system symptoms:

        •  hyperactivity,
        •  apathy,
        •  migraine and headaches,
        •  sleeping disorders.
        •

6. Chronic malnutrition.

7. Malabsorption syndrome.

8. Anaphylaxis.

9. Other :

        •  iron-deficiency anemia,
        •  thrombocytopenia,
        •  leukopenia,
        •  sweating,
        •  edema,
        •  no effects when attempting to lose weight, despite following the dietary recommendations.
        •

If you notice any of these symptoms in you or your children, it may be a good idea to consult a doctor or dietitian for the right diagnosis. Some of the symptoms mentioned above may be a result of other disorders, which is why a differential diagnosis is necessary.

Many of us suffer from food allergy or intolerance, but only few of us are aware of it. Undiagnosed and untreated allergy may drastically lower the quality of life. The elimination diet may improve the health condition significantly- it may have a positive effect on weight, energy levels and overall wellbeing.
