KAMARI – a Greek restaurant in Lodz

A restaurant located in the city center, just a short walk from the famous shopping gallery „Manufaktura”, offering non-trivial (at least in Poland!) greek cuisine.

The interior was definitely inspired by Greece – it’s bright and breezy. I have always been in awe of the unique Mediterranean style that defines that area, so I have to admit I really enjoyed the way the restaurant’s decorated. KAMARI is devided into two parts – a larger restaurant hall and the cafe, which is smaller, with low coffee tables, separated from the dining area by a screen and some flowers.

I visited this restaurant with two friends of mine who are not on a gluten-free diet, so KAMARI seemed to be a perfect choice since they serve both „normal” and gluten-free meals. But to be honest, we weren’t welcomed very nicely, the waiter didn’t seem pleased to see us. It turned out they were waiting for a big group of people, so we were told to sit in a corner, which was actually a coffee corner. Chairs not too comfy, tables not too high… But since we didn’t pre-book, we couldn’t complain.

Once food order was taken, two meals came quickly (these were „normal dishes” that contained gluten), but I had to wait a little longer for mine – maybe it’s just that preparing a gluten-free meal takes more time, but my friends have finished by the time I was served, so all in all – I ate alone. Sure the portions were large and tasty, and mine was absolutly gluten-free (what is a huge plus!) – but the food wasn’t really exciting. It was fine, just not terrific.

To summarise, our trip to KAMARI was not disappointing, but also nothing super special.
